We did the incredible. Belgium reached 65%. And beyond!

The results of the 2026 reporting period are in. And they bring good news: for reference year 2025, Belgium achieved an e-waste collection rate of 66.2%. This means we have exceeded the European target of 65%. An important milestone on the Road to 65.

How much e-waste was reported in Belgium?

A total of 188,444 tonnes of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) was reported. Of this, 49,495 tonnes was reported directly through BeWeee. Together with data from Recupel and PV Cycle, this reporting helps provide the most complete possible picture of Belgium’s e-waste streams.

Belgium’s collection rate therefore stands at 66.2%, compared with 61.93% in 2024. Belgium has not only taken a significant step forward, but has also exceeded the European target of 65% for reference year 2025.

What stands out in the 2025 e-waste figures?

1) Belgium passes the 65% mark
With a collection rate of 66.2%, Belgium has exceeded the European target. Compared with 61.93% in 2024, this represents an important step forward.
2) 188,444 tonnes of e-waste were reported
De totale rapportering geeft een beeld van de omvang van de Belgische e-wastestromen. 49.495 ton daarvan werd rechtstreeks via BeWeee gerapporteerd. De overige gegevens komen via Recupel en PV Cycle.
3) Accurate reporting remains essential
Reaching 65% does not mean the work is done. The volumes of electrical and electronic equipment placed on the market and the quantities collected continue to evolve. Reuse, longer product lifespans and changes within the e-waste chain can also influence the figures.

The results show how much e-waste is reported, but they do not always explain why volumes increase or decrease. That is why BeWeee continues not only to monitor the figures, but also to follow the developments behind them.

The Road to 65 continues

The European target is clear: a collection rate of 65%. For reference year 2025, Belgium has exceeded that threshold. This achievement is the result of the efforts of many actors across Belgium’s e-waste chain, from producers and distributors to collectors, reuse centres and processors.
Reliable WEEE reporting remains essential. It shows where Belgium stands, how e-waste streams are evolving and where further progress can be made.

66.2% is a result to build on. The better we map our e-waste streams, the better we can work together to stay on track.
